Choosing the right water level hose
In construction work, there are three absolutes: plumb vertical, level horizontal, and solid measurement. Plumb vertical is measured with a plumb line. Level horizontal is achieved with a spirit level and water level hose. For a solid measurement, you need an accurate meter or tape measure, but also steady work. Mechanical tools like the water level hose use gravity and are easy to use and affordable.
Laser measurers, on the other hand, are based on a laser beam that allows for quick and accurate distance measurements. Laser distance measurers have practically replaced tape measures in practice because they offer fast and precise measurements and can be used alone. Laser measurers can also do calculations like area and volume, making them versatile tools.
The advantage of the water level hose is its simplicity and accuracy compared to electronic level measurers, which can be more expensive and complicated to use. The result from laser measurers is unreliable if they're not held perfectly level. Despite all the tech, the old water level hose holds its own because the laser beam doesn't easily show around corners or behind walls.
Warnings
Keep the hose away from sharp objects and avoid sharp bends to prevent damage to the hose.
