The Procat skeleton caulking gun is a lightweight and simple silicone dispenser, perfect for standard 310 ml cartridges. This so-called skeleton model has an open and light structure, making it super easy to use and quick to load.
The tool comes with an ergonomic handle and finger trigger that let you feed the material precisely and evenly. The push mechanism is mechanical and works great for squeezing out common silicones, adhesives, acrylics, and polyurethanes.
The metal frame strikes a good balance between lightness and structural rigidity. The skeleton design also allows for quick cleaning and checking, since the cartridge isn't hidden like in closed models.

What it's for:

Silicone sealing and caulking jobs: It's awesome for stuff like sealing bathrooms, kitchens, and windows. The ease of use and precise feed make the work controlled and neat.

Construction and installation work: Use it for squeezing adhesives and construction sealants in various installs, like fixing up drywall, trim, or insulation.

Auto shops and technical maintenance: Great for technical repairs too, where you use sealants or adhesives, say for installing gaskets or plastic parts.

DIY and home reno projects: Works well for home users on repair and reno jobs where you need a reliable and simple silicone gun.

Features:

Compatibility: 310 ml standard cartridges – Works with most silicones and adhesives on the market.

Design: Open 'skeleton model' – Lightweight, quick to load, and easy to clean.

Material: Metal frame – Durable and twist-resistant structure despite the light weight.

Handle and trigger: Ergonomic grip – Reduces strain during longer sessions.

Mechanics: Mechanical push rod – Stable and even squeeze.

Best for: Sealing, gluing, and caulking jobs

Procat skeleton usage instructions:

Open the back of the gun and pull the push rod all the way back.

Slide the 310 ml cartridge into the frame and push the rod back tight against the cartridge base.

Cut the nozzle tip to your desired size and put on the included cap (if there is one).

Use the trigger to squeeze out the stuff.

After use, release the push pressure with the separate release lever.

Remove the cartridge, clean the frame, and store it in a dry place.

How to pick the right cartridge caulking gun:
Choosing a caulking gun depends on a few things, like what you're using it for, the type of sealant, and how comfy it is to work with. There are tons of models out there – from skeleton ones to heavy-duty industrial ones – and picking the right one really boosts your accuracy, speed, and ergonomics.
Here are the key things to keep in mind when choosing:

1. Usage and purpose
Pick the gun based on where and how you'll use it:

Light and occasional use: If you need it for random home caulking or fixes, a lightweight skeleton model is usually plenty. It's cheap, easy to handle, and light to carry.

Pro use and repeated work: For heavier daily jobs, like on construction sites or for installers, go for a sturdier model with better squeeze power and a comfier handle. Features like drip locks or swappable mechanisms can be handy too.

2. Compatibility with your cartridges

Most common size: 310 ml cartridges are the standard, and almost all guns on the market support them. Still, double-check compatibility before buying.

Special sealants: Some stuff, like 2-part glues or super stiff polyurethanes, need special guns that handle more force or have two parallel cartridge slots.

3. Squeeze mechanism type

Basic mechanical: A simple rod + trigger setup works fine for regular silicones and acrylic sealants.

Ratchet and ratio mechanism (like 12:1 or 18:1): A geared ratio boosts the squeeze power and cuts down on user effort. Great for thicker or cold-weather sealants.

Drip lock (anti-drip): Some models automatically release pressure after you let go of the trigger, stopping the sealant from oozing out during breaks.

4. Build and weight

Skeleton model: Open design, light, and easy to clean. Good for light to medium use.

Closed frame: Gives extra protection to the cartridge, but can be heavier and harder to clean.

Aluminum vs. steel: Aluminum frame is light and rust-proof. Steel is tougher but heavier and needs dry storage.

5. Ergonomics and comfort

Handle design: An ergonomic handle makes it easier, especially for long jobs.

Trigger response: A smooth trigger lets you control and even out the sealant flow.

Handling: A compact gun is easier in tight spots, while longer models give better leverage.

6. Price-quality ratio

A cheap basic gun might do if you don't use it much.

Mid-range guns offer a solid mix of durability, features, and comfort.

Pro-level models are an investment for regular use, where the gun's a key part of your daily toolkit.
