The Yato Rangefinder is a digital range and speed meter equipped with an optical telescope, designed for accurate measurement of long distances, linear angles, and the speed of moving objects. The device uses an eye-safe, half-wavelength 905 nm laser and advanced digital signal processing in its measurement process, enabling reliable measurement results even in demanding backlight conditions. The system's linear measurement range extends up to 1000 meters, offering high resolution across a wide operating area.

The device features an integrated optical monocular with 6x magnification and a 24 mm objective lens, allowing for precise aiming at distant targets. The optical system is equipped with multi-coated lenses to minimize image distortion and maximize light transmission. Measurement data, such as the selected mode, distance in meters or yards, angle degrees, and speed units, are reflected directly onto the LCD screen inside the viewfinder, allowing the user to simultaneously track the target and measurement results.

The speed measurement function can determine the speed of an approaching or receding object between 0–300 km/h, extending the device's utility beyond traditional range measurement. The versatile software includes direct distance measurement, flagpole locking mode (pinseeker), trajectory correction function, and height and angle measurements using a built-in tilt sensor. The device is powered by a single 3 V (CR2) lithium battery (purchased separately), and its body is protected against dust and splashes, ensuring reliable operation outdoors.

The Yato YT-73142 offers high industrial and operational value by replacing multiple separate measuring devices with one integrated optoelectronic system. The measurement accuracy for distance is ±1 meter and for speed is ±5 km/h, meeting technical requirements in infrastructure planning, line construction, forestry surveying, and terrain measurement. The included carabiner hook and hand strap ensure secure mechanical attachment to harnesses or belt loops when working at height or in challenging terrain.

Intended Use and Suitability:

The product has been developed for extensive distance, angle, and speed determination in outdoor installations, construction sites, and surveying projects.

  • Line Construction and Cabling: The device is used to estimate span lengths for power lines, mast structures, and telecommunications cables, as well as distances for terrain features. The angle measurement function allows for calculating vertical distances without physical access to the measured point.
  • Forestry and Plot Surveying: Suitable for estimating tree heights, quickly checking boundary distances, and coordinating between topographic points in terrain where traditional tape measures are impractical due to obstacles.
  • Traffic Monitoring and Logistics: The speed measurement function is used to monitor the speed of vehicles and machinery in factory areas, port terminals, and closed construction sites to optimize occupational safety and logistical processes.

Yato YT-73142 User Manual:

Open the battery compartment cover and insert a 3 V CR2 lithium battery, observing the polarity markings. Attach the hand strap and carabiner hook to the mounting point on the body to ensure the device stays secure in challenging field conditions. Turn on the device by briefly pressing the power button (Power/Start), which will activate the LCD display inside the viewfinder. Look through the viewfinder and rotate the diopter ring on the eyepiece to adjust the image and reticle to be perfectly sharp for your eye.

Select the desired measurement mode (e.g., distance, speed, or angle) by pressing the mode button (Mode). Align the reticle in the center of the viewfinder with the target and press the power button once. The device will immediately perform a laser pulse measurement and display the result on the screen. When using speed measurement, hold down the button and follow the moving target with the reticle until the device locks in the speed value. Clean the optical surfaces regularly with the included microfiber cloth.

Warnings:

  • Never look directly at the sun or strong artificial light sources with the device or through the viewfinder, as this can cause permanent eye damage.
  • Although the device's measurement laser is invisible and classified as eye-safe (Class 1), avoid aiming the device directly into the eyes of other people or animals at close range.
  • Do not disassemble the device's optical or electronic body yourself; improper handling can damage laser components or void the warranty.

Frequently Asked Questions, FAQ:

Why does the rangefinder not give a result in foggy weather or heavy rain?
Laser rangefinding is based on the reflection of a light pulse from the target back to the device's receiver. Dense fog, rain, or snow in the air scatters and attenuates laser radiation, which shortens the maximum measurement range or prevents signal registration.

Can the device measure distance through ordinary window glass?
Measurement through glass may fail or give an incorrect result because part of the laser beam reflects back from the window surface. Best results are achieved by measuring in an unobstructed line directly to the target.

Recycling Instructions:

The device contains electronic components and optical parts, so it must not be disposed of with household waste. At the end of its life cycle, the product must be delivered to a collection point for waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE). Remove the CR2 lithium battery from the device before recycling and deliver it to a separate battery recycling point. The product's carrying case should be sorted as textile or mixed waste, and the packaging cardboard for cardboard recycling.
