Vorel Hearing Protection SNR 20.4 dB
The Vorel 74581 is a dome-shaped hearing protector that provides SNR 20.4 dB attenuation in general noise environments. Its metal-free construction makes it suitable for applications where metal parts may be harmful or prohibited. The adjustable headband and movable joints help fine-tune the fit for users of different sizes.
The ear cushion and soft, skin-friendly ear seals enhance comfort over long periods of use. The dimensions of the seals (approx. A 30 mm, B 60 mm) are designed to surround the earlobe with sufficient surface area, which enhances cushioning and reduces pressure points.
The materials of the cups and headband are ABS, PVC and POM combined with foam padding. The product belongs to personal protective equipment class II. The structure supports balanced compression against the head, so that the user gets the combination of usability and effective cushioning.
The SNR value makes it easy to dimension the attenuation: for example, in an environment of 104.4 dB, an SNR of 20.4 dB reduces exposure to approximately 84 dB when the protector is used correctly and without interruption for the entire exposure time.
Intended use:
Construction and maintenance work: Suitable for dampening drilling, screwing, grinding and general machine noise on construction sites and workshops. The adjustable headband and soft seals ensure that the protector can be worn continuously for several hours without significant discomfort, supporting continuity of protection and reducing exposure peaks.
Warehouse and logistics environments: Effectively reduces noise from forklifts, conveyors and packaging machines in general applications. The metal-free construction prevents sparking or conductivity risks in certain environments, and the lightweight design makes it easy to wear the protector throughout the work shift, increasing the actual protection time.
Light industry and assembly: Control noise levels from lathes, pneumatic tools and light presses with SNR 20.4 dB attenuation. Movable joints improve cup alignment to the ear, reducing leakage and ensuring a consistent seal even during head movement.
General noise control and visitor use: Also suitable for visitors, short-term use and as an “always-on” solution in spaces with varying noise levels. The simple adjustment mechanism makes it easy to share the size between different users, which is useful in shared use areas and loaner equipment.
Features:
Attenuation (SNR): 20.4 dB – Suitable for general noise levels and continuous use when the goal is to reduce exposure to ?85 dB.
Construction: Metal-free – Reduces risks related to conduction and sparking, as well as weight.
Materials: ABS, PVC, POM and foam padding – A combination of durability, elasticity and comfortable sealing.
Adjustability: Headband and movable joints – Easy fit for different head shapes, improving seal and comfort.
Gasket dimensions: A ? 30 mm, B ? 60 mm – Sufficient contact surface for even weight distribution.
Protection category: Category II – Personal protective equipment that covers the significant protection requirements for this product group.
Fit: Soft, skin-friendly sealing rings – Increases comfort and reduces pressure on the top of the head.
Vorel 74581 user manual:
Adjust the length of the earpiece before use so that the cups cover the ears completely and the seals touch the head completely. Position the cups symmetrically; ensure that no hair, spectacle frames or headgear gets caught between the seal and the skin and causes leakage. Keep the earmuffs on throughout the noise exposure – removing the protection for even a few minutes will reduce the average level of protection.
Clean the seals and visible surfaces of the cup regularly with a damp, mild soap solution. Do not use solvents or abrasives. Dry thoroughly in the shade before storing. Check the elasticity of the seals and the fit of the cup; replace worn seals. Store in a dry, clean place out of direct sunlight.
Size the protection based on the SNR value in relation to the noise source level. For example, in an environment of approximately 104 dB, an SNR of 20.4 dB will bring the exposure to approximately 84 dB when the protection is used correctly and without interruption.
Warnings:
Hearing protection must be worn continuously throughout the entire exposure period; short breaks will reduce the overall effect.
Improper fit, broken or flattened seals, and eyeglass frames under the seal can cause leaks and reduce cushioning.
Not suitable for explosive impulse noise without a separate suitability assessment.
Do not modify the protector or use replacement parts that are not approved by the manufacturer.
Store away from heat sources and chemicals that can embrittle materials.
Frequently Asked Questions, FAQ:
For which noise levels is SNR 20.4 dB sufficient? For general work environments where the equivalent level is around 95–100 dB. The goal is to reduce exposure to a maximum of 85 dB. If necessary, select a higher SNR.
Can I use with goggles? Yes, but make sure the temples are as thin as possible and the seal is pressed evenly. Leaks will reduce cushioning – always check for fit.
Does the product contain metal parts? Metal-free construction. This is useful in environments where metal parts may cause interference or are prohibited.
How do I maintain and when do I replace the seals? Clean regularly with mild soap and replace when the seal surface cracks, loses elasticity or becomes uncomfortable. Regular inspection will extend the service life.
Recycling instructions:
Cardboard and paper packaging: Recycle as cardboard/paper according to local regulations. Plastic bags or protective films: Recycle as plastic, if sorting allows. The hearing protector itself: Mixed waste or plastic waste according to local regulations; check with your municipality for possible PPE collection. Remove and recycle any separate plastic parts according to local regulations.
