Yato cup brush M14 125 mm RST braided is a heavy-duty cleaning accessory for angle grinders. The braided (knotted) stainless steel wire forms a stiff, long-lasting brush surface that effectively cuts through rust, old paint, casting residues and welding spatter. The cup shape allows for a large contact surface and even cutting even on large flat surfaces.
The M14 thread is compatible with most 115-125 mm angle grinders sold in Europe. The stainless steel material prevents premature corrosion of the bristles in humid and outdoor conditions, which extends the service life and reduces the risk of iron contamination on stainless surfaces. The braided package remains together even under heavy loads, which reduces wire fragmentation and vibration compared to straight-wound wires.
The cup brush is suitable for pre-treatment before painting, coating or welding, as well as for the maintenance of structures, railings, machines and steel plates. When used correctly, the brush speeds up work steps, reduces the consumption of abrasives and produces a uniform adhesion surface for subsequent treatments.

Intended use:

Rust and paint removal from steel surfaces: The braided wire cuts through firmly attached corrosion and multiple layers of paint. The cup shape keeps contact even and reduces “sudden” impacts, leaving fewer deep grooves in the substrate than coarse abrasive discs. This improves primer adhesion and reduces overall pre-treatment time.

Removal of welding spatter and casting residues: RST braid withstands point loads and heat better than organic abrasives. It quickly removes slag, burrs and casting scales without excessive material removal from the base surface, which is important for maintaining dimensional accuracy.

Maintenance and cleaning of structures in outdoor conditions: Stainless steel wire is resistant to moisture and salts, making the brush suitable for bridge railings, stairs, tanks and outdoor steel structures. The reduced risk of corrosion from particles left by the brush reduces the formation of new rust spots.

Surface roughening before bonding/coating: Mechanical roughening creates a uniform microstructure that improves mechanical adhesion without excessive material removal. Uniform roughness also facilitates uniform coating thickness.

Features:

Diameter: 125 mm – Wide coverage for quick cleaning and pre-treatment.

Mounting: M14 – Standard thread for most angle grinders, quick installation.

Bristle material: Stainless steel (RST), braided wire – High aggressiveness, long life and low wire breakage.

Structure: Cup – Stable, even contact; controlled material removal on flat surfaces and edges.

Application: Rust, paint, slag, burrs – For pre-treatment before painting/coating and maintenance.

Operating machine: Angle grinder (115–125 mm class) – Good controllability and visibility of the work site.

Yato Cup brush RST braided – user manual:

Installation: Disconnect the angle grinder from the power supply. Attach the brush to the M14 thread and tighten according to the manufacturer's instructions. Secure the protective shield.

Start-up: Try the brush briefly in neutral, make sure there is no imbalance or abnormal vibration.

Working: Keep light/weighted contact and let the braid do the work. Make even sweeps; avoid stopping at one point to minimize heating.

Monitoring: Stop regularly, remove loose material and check for wear. Replace the brush if the wire is unevenly shortened or the cup is damaged.

Termination and maintenance: Clean from dust and chips; store dry and protected from corrosion.

Warnings:

Always wear safety glasses/visors, protective gloves, hearing protection and a respirator suitable for the dust level.

Do not exceed the machine manufacturer's permitted speed for the brush size in question.

Do not use a damaged or severely unbalanced brush.

Keep flammable materials away from the work area; sparks may be generated from the workpiece.

Only attach to compatible angle grinders, always use a protective shield.

Frequently Asked Questions, FAQ:
Why choose stainless steel braided wire over nylon or steel wire? Stainless steel is resistant to corrosion and does not leave rust residue; braided wire is stiff and aggressive for heavy-duty cleaning. Nylon is gentler on soft surfaces.
Can I use the brush on stainless steel? Yes, the stainless steel wire reduces the risk of iron contamination. Clean the surface after use and avoid cross-contamination with other tools.
Is the brush suitable for aluminum? Yes, for light oxide removal, but avoid excessive pressure and heat generation to avoid “sealing” the surface or scratching it deeply.
When should you replace your brush? When the braid has clearly shortened unevenly, the wire has broken a lot, or there is visible damage/distortion in the cup.

Recycling instructions:
