Yato Cup brush M6 100 mm RST
Yato cup brush M6 100 mm RST is a cleaning and pre-treatment accessory for drills for the maintenance of metal surfaces. The stainless steel wire is resistant to moisture and outdoor conditions, which reduces the risk of iron contamination caused by particles coming off the brush on stainless or acid-resistant substrates. The cup body supports the brush bundles so that contact remains even on large flat surfaces.
The M6 attachment allows the brush to be used in standard drills and cordless drills without special adapters. The cup shape is suitable for both surfaces and edge areas, and the speed control of the drill makes the work easy to control even on sensitive areas. The brush works well for removing rust, flaking paint, oxides and light slag layers, as well as for pre-treating adhesive surfaces and coatings.
The stiffness of the stainless steel wire provides good bite, so the surface becomes uniformly roughened for the following work steps. Pre-treatment improves the adhesion of the primer, coating or adhesive and shortens the working time of subsequent treatments. In maintenance applications, the brush is suitable for railings, stair parts, machine parts and plates, as well as for maintenance and installation work.
The product is also useful in renovation and sheet metal work where you want to remove old coatings without heavy material removal. The torque and adjustable speed of the drill make handling smoother than with an angle grinder, making it easier to work in tight spaces.
After use, it is a good idea to clean the brush of loose material and dry it. Proper handling will extend its life and preserve the shape of the braids. Replacing a worn or unbalanced brush ensures safety and a smooth finish.
Intended use:
Removing rust and flaking paint from metal: The brush evenly removes stubborn corrosion and old paint layers. The cup shape maintains stable contact even on large surfaces, creating a uniform roughness on the base material and improving adhesion of the subsequent coating.
Welding residue and oxide cleaning: Suitable for removing light slag, spatter and oxide layers caused by heat generation from welding seams. Cleaning facilitates further processing, such as grinding, passivation or painting.
Surface roughening before bonding/coating: Mechanical roughening creates a microstructure that improves mechanical adhesion of adhesives and coatings without excessive material removal. Particularly useful on stainless steel surfaces.
Maintenance in outdoor and humid conditions: Stainless steel wire is resistant to moisture, so the brush is suitable for railings, stair structures and exterior steel parts. The particles of stainless steel wire do not promote the formation of new rust spots in the same way as carbon steel wire.
Features:
Diameter: 100 mm – Stable coverage on flat surfaces and edges; good controllability with a drill.
Mounting: M6 – Compatible with drills; quick installation without special adapters.
Bristle material: Stainless steel (RST) – Resistant to corrosion; reduces iron contamination on stainless substrates.
Structure: Cup – Even contact and controlled material removal.
Applications: Rust, paint, oxides, light slag – Pre-treatment before painting, coating or bonding.
Machine type: Drill/cordless drill – Adjustable speed and good control in tight spaces.
Yato Cup Brush M6 100 mm RST – instruction manual:
Installation: Disconnect the drill from the battery/mains. Attach the brush to the M6 mount/tighten the drill chuck according to the instructions. Make sure the mount is straight.
Start: Set a moderate speed. Test the brush on a small area and ensure smooth operation without abnormal vibration.
Working: Work at a gentle angle with light to moderate pressure. Use even strokes; avoid prolonged point contact, which increases heat.
Pause and check: Stop regularly, remove loose material and assess wear. Replace the brush if the threads are noticeably unevenly shortened.
Finish: Remove the brush only after the drill has stopped. Clean and dry; store in a dry place.
Maintenance: Remove chips and dust, check the integrity of the braids. Do not try to straighten bent braids by force.
Warnings:
Always wear safety glasses/visors, a respirator suitable for the dust level, protective gloves and, if necessary, hearing protection.
Do not exceed the speed allowed by the drill and brush; avoid imbalance.
Do not use a damaged or crooked brush.
Keep flammable materials away from the work area – sparks may be generated from the workpiece.
Not for use in potentially explosive atmospheres. Keep out of reach of children.
Frequently Asked Questions, FAQ:
Can I use the brush on stainless steel? Yes. The stainless steel wire reduces cross-contamination from iron particles. Clean the surface after use for best results.
Is the brush suitable for cleaning aluminum? For light oxide removal and roughening, yes. Avoid excessive pressure and heat to avoid scratching the surface deeply.
What is the difference between a drill brush and an angle grinder brush? A drill brush gives you a softer and more controlled treatment. An angle grinder brush is more aggressive and is suitable for large, heavy-duty cleaning.
When should you replace your brush? When the wire is clearly worn or unbalanced, the cup is damaged, or vibration increases – replace it to ensure safety and quality.
