Yato YT-2900 is a compactly packaged 7-piece pipe threading set designed for making and repairing external threads on steel and metal pipes on construction sites, in maintenance work and in installations. The core of the set is a manual ratchet-operated tap, which allows threading even in tight spaces without rotating the pipe. The ratchet mechanism speeds up the work and reduces hand strain.
Six interchangeable die heads are included in the common nominal size ranges of 1/4", 3/8", 1/2", 3/4", 1" and 1-1/4". These cover the most common pipe sizes in HVAC, heating and industrial piping. The heads are made of highly wear-resistant 9Cr2 tool steel, which maintains the geometry of the cutting edge and produces a clean thread profile when used correctly.
The surface of the threading handle has a firm, padded grip (cellular rubber), which improves ergonomics and control. The working direction selector (forward/reverse) makes it easier to use the ratchet, and the steel structure of the frame ensures rigidity during threading. The entire set is delivered in a plastic case, where each head has its own place for quick selection and safe storage.
The Yato YT-2900 is particularly suitable for situations where reliable manual threading without electric machines is needed: renovation projects, construction sites without electricity, maintenance work and individual threading jobs. The modularity of the series and clear size marking make choosing the right head quick, which improves workflows.

Intended use:

Plumbing and heating installations: The pipe threading set is suitable for making external threads on water, heating and cooling pipes when a thread suitable for BSP or similar standards is required for connections. The ratchet mechanism allows working close to walls and corners where a full rotation is not possible. The range of head sizes (¼"–1¼") covers common connector sizes, so the same set serves several applications without additional accessories.

Industrial maintenance and repair tasks: For machine shops, manufacturing plants and property maintenance, threads can be made on site without removing pipes. This reduces downtime and the need for parts replacement. 9Cr2 cutting heads withstand repeated use and produce a consistent thread profile, which, when used with the appropriate gasket, improves joint tightness.

Renovation and renovation: When repairing old pipelines, it is often necessary to make new threads or clean up damaged ones. A manual ratchet threader is particularly useful in this case, as space is limited and the work is often done overhead or in tight enclosures. The kit's carrying case makes it easy to move the tool from one site to another.

Assembly and prototype work in the workshop: Small and individual joints can be made without separate machines. Clear size markings on the heads reduce the risk of incorrect selection and speed up the start of work. The ratchet function helps maintain a constant speed and force, which produces consistent thread quality in repeat use.

Features:

Ratchet mechanism: Enables threading in tight spaces without full rotation and speeds up work.

Changing the working direction: The forward/reverse selector makes it easy to return the blade and change the operating direction during work.

Six interchangeable heads (¼"–1¼"): Covers the most common pipe sizes in HVAC and industrial applications, reducing the need for separate tools.

Cutting head material 9Cr2: High wear resistance and good edge retention to produce a clean thread profile.

Body material steel: Provides rigidity and power transfer for uniform threading.

Padded handle (sponge): Improves grip and comfort during long-term use.

Set size: 7 pieces – clear structure and markings for quick size selection.

Transport case: Weather and impact resistant plastic case protects parts and facilitates transport and storage.

Yato Pipe Threading Set 7-piece instruction manual:

Preparation: Clean the end of the pipe, lightly chamfer the mouth surface and ensure the correct size for the fitting requirement. Secure the pipe firmly in the clamp.

Lubrication: Apply thread oil or paste to the pipe end and cutting surfaces of the die head. Sufficient lubrication improves surface quality and extends the life of the blades.

Head Installation: Select the correct threading head (¼"–1¼") and lock it into the body as instructed. Make sure the head is fully seated and the lock snaps into place.

Threading: Place the head perpendicular to the pipe. Use the ratchet in a forward direction. Apply light pressure and rotate evenly; add lubrication as needed. Every few turns, back off by half a turn to break the chip.

Finishing: When the nominal length is reached, reverse the direction changer and remove the tool. Clean the thread of chips and add sealant or tape if necessary before assembling the joint.

Maintenance: Clean heads of dirt and chips after use. Dry and lightly oil to prevent corrosion. Store parts in their respective places in the bag. Check locks and ratchet mechanism regularly; replace worn heads.

Warnings:

Always wear appropriate personal protective equipment: safety glasses, gloves and, if necessary, hearing protection.

Ensure the pipe is rigidly secured before threading to avoid slipping and the risk of injury.

Do not use damaged or worn die heads; they may cause poor quality threading or break under load.

Do not exceed the mechanical capacity of the tool; use the correct size and adequate lubrication.

Keep the tool out of the reach of children.

Only use lubricants suitable for the purpose and follow the safety instructions for the work environment.

Frequently Asked Questions, FAQ:
What thread standard do the heads fit? The heads are sized for inch sizes (¼"–1¼"), which are commonly used in pipe connections. Verify the required thread standard for the installation site (e.g. BSPT/BSPP) before starting work.
Can the set be used on stainless steel? It is possible to use with proper lubrication and moderate feeds, but the cutting stress is greater. Monitor the condition of the blades and add lubrication frequently.
Do I need thread oil? Yes. Lubrication reduces friction and improves chip formation, which extends the life of the inserts and produces a clean thread profile.
Can threads be made on an installed pipe? Yes, the ratchet mechanism allows threading on site without removing the pipe, as long as the pipe is supported and securely fastened.
How do I identify the correct head size? Size markings are engraved on the head body. Select the size to match the connector; test fit before final threading.

Recycling instructions:

Packaging: Cardboard and paper materials for cardboard collection. Plastic protective films and bags for plastic collection according to local guidelines.

Product and ends: Metal parts (steel, 9Cr2) for metal collection at end of life.

Transport bag: Plastic case for plastic collection or energy fraction according to local waste management instructions.

Remove oils and greases to separate collection (hazardous waste) before recycling metal parts.
